Who doesn’t want to look and feel younger? It isn’t just about vanity. It is about keeping our body functioning properly by reducing the workload of our organs. Gerontologists feel that aging is due to the interaction of a variety of lifelong influences such as genetics, environmental influences, diet, stressors, past illnesses, injury and lifestyle. We can’t change our genetics or past factors, yet we can change the way we treat our body today with knowledge and natural techniques. An effective anti-aging routine needs to include what is going on within our bodies. Our food choices, along with attention to how the spine is aligned throughout the day, influences good blood and lymph flow. Discovering Health, What’s In Your Toolbox?

Discovering Health, What’s In Your Toolbox?

By Kimberly Burns

Most everyone has a toolbox of some sort. A toolbox is generally thought of as a physical area that we keep special tools that you use around your home to maintain and repair household items. It contains different unique tools that you use alone or in conjunction with other tools. A therapist’s tool box may consist of different tests, a variety of therapeutic interventions such as different exercises, knowledge and other tools that we call modalities that we will use to help with a patient’s injury or disease. Parents with children that have special needs may have their own sensory tool box with activities to stimulate all of a child’s senses to improve the ability to develop. If you want to live in good health and fight injury and disease, being your own health advocate and gaining knowledge of what is available will assist you in developing your own wellness toolbox.

According to a MedicalNewsToday.com article, “Inflammation is the body’s attempt at self-protection; the aim being to remove harmful stimuli, including damaged cells, irritants, or pathogens – and begin the healing process”

Breathe In A Healthy Lifestyle, It’s A Matter Of Technique

Breathe In A Healthy Lifestyle, It’s A Matter Of Technique

By Kimberly Burns

Many people know that breathing is important, yet are unaware of the importance of how you breathe. When you think about it, a few key words like “pursed lip breathing” or “deep breathing” may come to mind. An important muscle to breathing is the diaphragm. a body partition of muscle and connective tissue; specifically: the partition separating the chest and abdominal cavities in mammals, according to merriam-webster.com. It assists in breathing through movement. Most of us don’t really know how our breathing apparatus works or why it would be beneficial to learn more about this amazing resource we all have to boost our own health.

Complimentary Therapies Are An Invaluable Tool For Wellness

By Kimberly Burns

When people ask me what I do, I tell them I’m a Pain Management/Wellness Practitioner who provides consultations about self therapy techniques that can be done at home. I am a huge proponent of complementary therapies, because they work, both for me and for my clients. According to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH), complementary therapies refer to those utilizing a nonmainstream approach together with conventional medicine.
